SellAProjector.com is a family-owned operation built on years of hands-on experience in the buyback space. No call centers, no middlemen, no guessing at what your equipment is worth.
Before SellAProjector.com, there was CanItCash.com. It launched in 2018 with a straightforward idea: buy functional electronics directly from consumers, skip the parts business, and move fast. The buyback space was full of sites that felt impersonal and slow. We wanted to build something tighter.
In those early years we focused on the usual electronics: laptops, desktops, tablets, phones. A few years in, we added monitors. Then came projectors. Nobody else seemed to be buying them seriously at the time. They shipped reasonably well, the resale market was strong, and frankly, they were interesting. Within a short time, projectors became close to half our volume alongside laptops.
We noticed early on that the few competitors who added projectors to their catalogs did so without much depth. They listed the category because we listed it. But the knowledge wasn’t there. Knowing what a lumen rating means in a real room. Knowing the difference between a short-throw and an ultra-short-throw, and why that matters for a golf simulator. Knowing that a laser projector at 8,000 hours is barely broken in, while a lamp-based unit at the same hours is a different conversation entirely. Knowing how to look up serial numbers on brands that don’t print the model name on the label.
That kind of thing takes time. We have it. Our founder ran an LG HU85LA as a daily driver for three or four years, a laser UST picked up as a damaged inspection unit. If you’ve ever lived with a projector as your main display, you develop opinions about them. We did.
A note on our inspection process: Every projector that comes in is received, set up, and tested at our location in New Prague, MN. We test lamp hours or laser performance, check focus and optics, photograph condition, and document everything before any offer is finalized. That documentation is reviewed against what the customer reported when they submitted their quote. If anything affects the offer, the customer is notified before anything is settled. That’s not how most buyback operations work, and it’s why our customers come back.
The people who built this site, set the prices, and handle inspections have a direct stake in every transaction. When your equipment comes through our door, it’s not being processed by a warehouse worker hitting a daily quota. It gets looked at carefully, documented thoroughly, and evaluated by people who know what they’re looking at. That’s a function of how we’re structured, and it’s something we plan to maintain as we grow.
We built a members area into CanItCash.com from the beginning so customers could track their quote and message our inspectors directly. Not a contact form that goes into a queue. A direct line to the people doing the work. SellAProjector.com is built on the same platform.
We’ve identified projectors from worn labels, partial model numbers, and photos. If you’re not sure whether what you have is something we buy, send us a message before shipping. We’d rather spend two minutes on a question than have you send something we can’t take.
Search your model and get an instant payout estimate. Free shipping included, paid within 1 business day.
